Get Involved

AVP Britain would not exist without the support of people like you. There are many ways to support our work.

AVP is a volunteer-led organisation, so we really understand the value of the time, support and dedication our volunteers provide. Below is a list of some of the tasks currently undertaken by some of our volunteers:
    1. Workshop facilitation
    2. Overnight hosting of facilitators
    3. Workshop meeting and greeting
    4. Workshop organisation (including organising catering)
    5. Workshop bookings
    6. Distance learning coursework assessment
    7. Fundraising and grant applications
    8. Outreach and awareness-raising
    9. Publicity
    10. Office administration
    11. Regional Committee administration
If you have any relevant skills or experience you think could be helpful, please let us know.  You can download a copy of our Volunteer Form here.

Everyone – regardless of age, gender, religion, ethnicity, ability, sexual orientation, etc. – has unique and valuable experiences to share with others. If you’ve attended a workshop (or more than one!) and you’re thinking of becoming a facilitator, we’d love to hear from you!

Typically speaking, a facilitator-in-training is expected to attend at least three workshops (including levels 1 and 2) as a participant, followed by a Training for Facilitator weekend course. Once you have completed the training, you will have the chance to facilitate a few workshops as an Apprentice Facilitator alongside experienced facilitators. You will be supported by a mentor throughout this process.

Facilitators are volunteers and therefore do not receive payment for their time; however, any relevant expenses (such as travel) will be reimbursed.

Interested? Contact us or reach out to your workshop facilitator for more information.

“There is no other community I identify with as strongly. I am delighted to be a part of it. I look forward to being able to give back as much as I receive from the process”

“It has been a wonderful time and experience in my life and I am so glad I am part of this amazing and astonishing organisation”

The Alternatives to Violence Project Britain relies on the generosity of supporters like you. We charge a small fee for our workshops, but no one is ever turned away if they can’t pay.  Donations like yours, alongside community grants, are what keep AVP running. No amount is too large or small.

Donate via JustGiving or via Crowdfunder. Both platforms accept one-time and monthly recurring donations.
