How we involve volunteers
AVP is a volunteer-led organisation, so we really understand the value of the time, support and dedication our volunteers provide. Below is a list of some of the tasks currently undertaken by our volunteers:
- Workshop facilitation
- Overnight hosting of facilitators
- Workshop meeting and greeting
- Workshop organisation (including organising catering)
- Workshop bookings
- Financial management, including book-keeping and budgeting
- Outreach and awareness-raising
- Office administration
- Regional Committee administration
- Regional Management committee or locality steering group membership

Becoming a facilitator
Once you have attended a workshop, you may be interested in becoming a facilitator. We strongly encourage this as we all learn from each other and our shared experiences are valuable learning and teaching tools.
Every facilitator is expected to attend at least three workshops as a participant, one of which is at level two. They will then complete a Training for Facilitators weekend course. After which, they will facilitate several workshops alongside experienced facilitators as an apprentice facilitator. Further support is offered through further courses and mentoring. Facilitators are not paid fees, all expenses incurred are paid.
Participants interested in becoming facilitators should speak to the lead facilitator at the end of the workshop.
“There is no other community I identify with as strongly. I am delighted to be a part of it. I look forward to being able to give back as much as I receive from the process”
“It has been a wonderful time and experience in my life and I am so glad I am part of this amazing and astonishing organisation”
