AVP is a voluntary organisation delivering workshops to around 500 people every year.  Apart from a very small part-time paid staff, the organisation is run by a large group of committed volunteers.

We are always looking for new workshop facilitators (see below).  We occasionally also need volunteers to coordinate one of our six AVP Britain regions, help with administrative tasks, or for trustee roles.  We strongly value our volunteers and seek to support them in their work for AVP.

• National and Regional Committee members
  Could you help us to organise and/or develop our programme of workshops?  There are some vacancies on our national and regional committees.  National committees are responsible for developing the programme and the organisation.  Regional committees manage the delivery of workshops in one of six geographic regions in Britain.

facilitator training

We hold regular training workshops for new AVP facilitators to join our regional teams.  All our facilitators are volunteers.  Our training is subsidised and expenses are paid.

To become a facilitator, you will need to have a positive outlook, enjoy working with people, be a good listener, and have good self-awareness.  You will also need to have completed three or more AVP workshops, of which at least one must be at Level Two.  Applicants are then assessed and interviewed, at which point you might be asked to go on one or more further AVP workshop(s) before joining a Training for Facilitators workshop.

At a Training for Facilitators workshop, participants learn about the attitudes, skills and techniques needed for working safely with groups, including those where strong feelings such as anger may be present.  On successful completion of the Training for Facilitators workshop, participants will begin to assist with Level One workshops.  We ask new facilitators to assist with a minimum of three workshops in the first year.  Ongoing support (including mentoring) and training opportunities are provided.

The skills developed as an AVP facilitator are highly transferable to many other situations.
